Tips for smooth access to Iwakuni Base; 

 We have approximately 270,000 people visiting our base on the Friendship Day. You can expect heavy traffic on the expressway and regular roads. Besides our event, it is also during Golden Week, so please keep in mind that JR, Shinkansen, Ferry and Airport will be also crowded. The parking can accommodate up to 4,500 cars, however, there can be a very long line to park your car. 

What we suggest is to use the public transportation to Iwakuni and then walk to the base on the day of event.  

 We would greatly appreciate your corporation by walking to the base to avoid the heavy traffic for a smoother visit to the area.  
 
 

岩国米軍基地へのアクセスTips 
 

フレンドシップデー当日は、毎年、約27万人の近くの人出があり、ゴールデンウィーク中のため、高速道路、一般道、最寄のJR、新幹線、フェリー、空港において、混雑が予想されます。また、駐車場は約4,500台を収容できますが、駐車場に入るまで時間がかかるものと思われます。 
 

なるべく、公共交通機関をお使いになり、徒歩で基地までいらっしゃることをお勧めします。

　

  交通渋滞を避け、よりスムーズな通行のため、徒歩によるご来場のご協力をお願い致します。 
 
 

Access to USMC Iwakuni Base  

By Car: 

From Fukuoka

Chugoku EXPWY - Yamaguchi JCT,-Sanyo EXPWY - Iwakuni Exit 
 
 

From Hiroshima, Okayama

EXPWY - Otake Exit 
 

From Tottori, Shimane

Take Chugoku EXPWY - Chiyoda JCT - Hiroshima JCT - EXPWY - Otake Ext 
 

By Shinkansen: 

The closest station is ‘Shin Iwakuni’ and only ‘Kodama’ which is a local train will stop at Shin Iwakuni station. So, please be careful, if you take ‘Hikari’ or ‘Nozomi’, you have to change the train to ‘Kodama’. 

Access from Shin Iwakuni Station:

  • You can catch the cab to the base.
  • You can take the local bus to JR Iwakuni station and there will be temporary shuttle bus to Iwakuni base or walk to the base.

新幹線： 

最寄の新幹線の駅は「新岩国駅」で、「こだま」しか停まりませんので、「ひかり」や「のぞみ」に乗られた場合、「こだま」に乗り換えて下さい。 

新岩国駅から基地へのアクセス：

  • タクシーで基地まで。
  • 駅前から出ているバスでJR岩国駅まで行き、JR岩国駅から出ているシャトルバスを利用するか、徒歩で基地まで。
 
 
 

From Hiroshima Airport: 

  • Catch limousine bus to JR Hiroshima and catch the train to JR Iwakuni Station and there will be temporary shuttle bus to Iwakuni base or walk to the base.
 
 
  • Catch a taxi or local bus to JR Shiraichi station, catch a train to JR Iwakuni station and there will be temporary shuttle bus to Iwakuni base or walk to the base.
 
 

By Ferry or Bus Tour:  

Please, contact the travel agencies. 
 
 
 

広島空港から： 

  • リムジンバスでJR広島駅まで、JR岩国駅まで行き、JR岩国駅から出ているシャトルバスを利用するか、徒歩で基地まで。
 
  • タクシーまたは路線バスでJR白市駅まで行き、JRで岩国駅で下車。JR岩国駅から出ているシャトルバスを利用するか、徒歩で基地まで。
